Description
Sierra-Cascade Adventure Racing Sports presents the 2nd Annual Run the River 1/2 marathon, Marathon & Ultramarathon on November 13, 2010. All courses will follow the “Jewel of Sacramento," the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail/American River Parkway. The 1/2 marathon begins at William Pond Park, the marathon begins at Negro Bar in Folsom, and the ultra-marathon begins at Beals Point in Granite Bay, following the scenic paved bike trail to Discovery Park at the confluence of the American and Sacramento Rivers.
Run the River is the ideal 1/2 marathon, marathon or ultra-marathon Point-to-Point course. This is a USATF certified marathon course and is a great course for those trying to qualify for Boston. No Traffic, No Cars, No Cutoff Times, Beautiful Scenery and a relaxed and supportive environment! All courses are on the American River Parkway – an area rich in diversity and wildlife which follows along the American River, which is part of the National Wild and Scenic River System. All courses are paved, lose elevation, and the ultra-marathon (31.5 miles) has a net loss of approximately 450 feet in elevation over the length of the route (see elevation chart). Both state and county parks provide excellent facilities along the paved trail including water and restrooms (In addition to facilities and aid we provide).
New for 2010, the Half Marathon portion of the American River Parkway will be CLOSED to everyone but us!
