"Bluegrass Music Workshop"
Desert Bluegrass Association
THE GOAL: Provide an encouraging and fun environment for beginner and intermediate musicians to learn to play bluegrass music with others.The Workshop's motto is, "Have the courage to be imperfect", i.e. attendees are gently challenged to take musical risks and try out new things without worrying about making mistakes. Only acoustic instruments such as: Guitar, Banjo, Upright Bass, Mandolin, Fiddle are used. Electric instruments are not allowed! The Workshop is Free.
WHERE and WHEN:The Workshop meets every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Marana Community Center, located at 13251 N. Lon Adams Road Marana, AZ. 85653
WHO: All Skill Levels. The Beginner track is for those who are just learning chords and/or don't know many bluegrass songs. The beginners? class uses the "Parking Lot Picker's Songbook"by Dix Bruce. NOTE:Attendees can purchase these books from the Music & Arts music store located at 8320 Thornydale Rd Ste 150/170 Tucson, AZ 85741 Individual books are available for each of the traditional bluegrass instruments (guitar, banjo, mandolin, dobro, and fiddle).
WHY:The Desert Bluegrass Association (DBA), a non-profit, all-volunteer organization since 1995, conducts the Workshops as one way to satisfy the organization's mission statement, i.e. to play and promote bluegrass music throughout Southwest Arizona. We encourage you to check out our busy monthly calendar of events at our website, www.desertbluegrass.org. Workshop attendees should consider a DBA membership. For just $15 a year, members receive the newsletter and become part of our great musical family.
