FESTIVAL 542 is a recreation celebration. Main events are RIDE 542 and RUN 542 - Mt. Baker Hill Climb. RIDE 542 is a 24.5, 50, or 100 mile cycling challenge for riders of all abilities from Glacier, WA to Artist Point. RUN 542 is a 8.5 mile trail run that climbs between Mt. Baker Ski Area's White Salmon Lodge to Artist Point. The Mt. Baker Highway (or SR542) is one of the most scenic paved roads in the world...so your ride up is timed...your ride down is relaxed!!
2012 marks our 10th year of FESTIVAL 542, and ARTIST POINT WILL BE OPEN this year!!! We have some special anniversary festivities in mind for all to enjoy. RIDE 542 will be limited to 1000 people (300ish per start wave), so please register early. RUN 542 is a world class course through the beautiful Mt. Baker Ski Area. We will definitely keep everyone updated as to the snow conditions as the date gets closer.FESTIVAL 542 collects a per rider green fee that is given through the NorKa Fund at the Whatcom Community Foundation. Benefit organizations include: RE-Sources, Whatcom Land Trust and the Whatcom Parks and Recreation Foundation. Most riders race up and then relax back down to Glacier (49 miles total). Carpooling is HIGHLY recommended and rewarded. Check road closure information for closure times. Changes may happen so please keep updated on the website. See you on the hill.
