Instructors: SPARK Business Academy For the sports lover, future team General Manager (GM), sports team owner, ESPN analyst or coach, this unique class will “show you the money” in sports! Students will learn the business side of various sports and actively discuss and analyze a different “sports money” topic every class, including: Which sports teams have the highest dollar market value? How do teams in the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL make money? Which athletes are the most marketable? Endorsements: From Michael Jordan to LeBron James. How should Under Armour compete against Nike? How do collective bargaining agreements determine player salaries? What’s “the money picture” in individual sports like golf or tennis? Why do some pro athletes go bankrupt after making millions? How much money do top college football programs raise for the school? If you have ever asked these questions while watching or playing sports, then this class is for you!

About This Organizer

For over 130 years the Ethical Culture Fieldston School has been committed to excellence in education as it seeks to develop the intellectual, artistic and moral potential of its students. ECFS serves approximately 1,700 students and 325 faculty and staff in our four divisions. Ethical Culture, Fieldston Lower, Fieldston Middle, and Fieldston upper. Ethical Culture is located in midtown Manhattan on Central Park West, in a six-story, turn-of-the-century school building; the other divisions share an 18-acre campus in the Riverdale Section of the Bronx.

Through an academic program that is demanding, rigorous, and through, we encrouage our students to challenge themselves in innovative ways, so they can reach their highest potential in mind, body, and spirit. We approach education in an interdisciplinary, experiential, and colaborative way, helping our students develop a lifelong passion for learning and understanding of its relevance beyond the classroom.
