What's Included

Ever wondered what the difference is between voltage and current? Do you know how to make a complete circuit? What makes a good conductor? Using a variety of wires, batteries, LED Lights, and other items, students will build their own circuits to develop an understanding of how electronics works. The electronics projects will build upon each other in terms of difficulty and complexity. We’ll take apart and examine scrap electronics, learn how to solder, build motors, play sounds, make gadgets blink or spin, and build connections. Projects might include: motor cars, drawdios, DIY motors, lightsabers, mouse-bots, and solar-triggered bristlebots. Instructor, Zach Hirschtritt, will run this dynamic offering. From his free community bike repair workshops to his work teaching welding and metal sculpture courses at Summerville’s Parts and Crafts summer program to his work as an after-school teacher for Little Scientists, Zach has lots of experience making science learning student-centered and fun!
