About This Activity

9th Annual Mackinaw Memorial Day Bridge Race! Being one of the only two unique opportunities of the year runners are allowed to run the "Mighty Mac" will be this year on May 26, 2012. The other possibility, being the Fall Colors Bridge Run held October 6, 2012. Runners must register in advance and be able to run a minimum of 12 minutes per mile to race in the event.

ENTRY FEE: The entry fee is $40.00 per participant if postmarked by May 1, 2012. Entry fees after May 1, 2012 are $45.00 and onsite registration will be $50.00. Entry includes: race across the Mackinac Bridge, official race bib, and race chip technology, official race T-shirt, commemorative medal, and transportation to the starting area, awards for division winners and HOT breakfast. Additional breakfast tickets can be purchased for $8.00 each. REGISTRATION:Event registration closes at midnight on May 22nd. You may either send printable registration form in with check or money order or register online at www.mackinawcity.com. Onsite registration will be offered on Friday, May 25, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at race headquarters. There will be NO ONSITE REGISTRATION OFFERED ON THE DAY OF THE RACE (May 26th)CHECK-IN:Friday May 25, 2012 from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm and Saturday May 26, 2012 at 5:00 am. Check-in and packet pick-up is at the Mackinaw City Recreation Center (race headquarters) in Mackinaw City. Transportation from race headquarters to starting area is from 5:30 am - 7:00 am. STARTING TIME: May 26, 2012 at 6:00 am official race begins with staggered start times (based on transportation time).LOCATION:The race will begin at Bridgeview Park at the north end of the bridge and will end at race headquarters in Mackinaw City. When you exit the Bridge, you will follow the cones to the Finish line. Transportation from Mackinaw City to the starting line is provided (Please note: our start times are based on assigned transportation times; so if you are providing your own transportation to the start line, it must be around the same time of your assigned transportation time).COURSE:The first half of the race is a steady incline with a slope of 5º. The total length of the course is 5.6 miles. For more bridge statistics please visit www.mackinacbridge.org.FACILITIES: There will be restrooms at the starting line of the event and at the finish line, but none are provided during the course. A water stop will be provided on the exit of the bridge. You may also carry your own water in a self-contained, litter-proof container.REFRESHMENTS: Full HOT Breakfast and refreshments will be available at race headquarters starting at 6:30 am - 8:30am.CANCELLATIONS: No refunds will be given. AWARDS: All entrants will receive commemorative medal and t-shirt for this event. Trophies' will go to the top 3 finishers in each category and gender. An award ceremony will follow breakfast between 8:30 am - 9:00am. AGE DIVISIONS: Men and women: 14-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64 and 65 & over. All runners must be able to run a minimum of a 12 minute per mile pace to race in this event. No walkers and no baby joggers are allowed.RESULTS: Results will be scored by Gault Racing.
