COME FOR THE PARTY, STAY FOR THE RACE! Come accept the challenge of crawling, running, jumping, climbing, wallowing in mud in a challenging competitive mood and then enjoying some good suds after Buffalo Battle at Buffalo Springs Lake, Lubbock, Texas.
Day of BattleDay of Battle COME FOR THE PARTY....STAY FOR THE RACE Packet Pick-Up: Packet will be available on site, 9:30am-11am. *Your packet will include your race bib, safety pins (race belts may be used and furnished by you), chip for timing, cool T-shirt, and any other neat things furnished by the Battle Generals. What To Bring At Packet Pick-Up: 1. Your photo mug shot is a must, you must be YOU to pick up our packet, NO impostors are welcome. 2. A change of clothes is recommended but really up to you. 3. An initialed, signed, and dated copy of the entrant waiver. This is not-optional and must be done before you are accepted as a racer in this event. Picking Up A Friend s Packet: This is an individual event and each entrant is required to pick up their own packets. No pick up by friends is permitted. When To Arrive on Race Day: Please take into consideration what you have to do to get in place to race: park, pick up packet (if not done earlier), place your bib and chip on, and find your way to the starting line. We recommend you give yourself at least an hour before wave time to get this done. What To Bring to The Race: Appropriate footwear is highly recommended, with at least one change. You will get some mud on you and plenty of water. *Spending money for extra beer, food, Battle gear, and whatever else you want to throw your money away on. A great attitude is very necessary! What To Leave At Home: *A wimpy attitude! *This is a BYOB function *No real weapons such as firearms, knives, hand grenades, or bows and arrows *No glass containers will be allowed Wave Starts: Participants choose their designated wave time at the time of registration. Waves start every 30 minutes. Participants are responsible for knowing the Buffalo Battle start time and check-in method. Participants are encouraged to report to their assigned starting location at least 15 minutes prior to the start of their wave. Waves of up to 600 entrants will start at the following times: 10:15am Elite Platoon, 10:30am, 11:00am 11:30am. Timing: If you wonder how we time this mass of humanity it is real easy with electronic chip timing. It is accurate, and catches the cheaters if we have any. It is either attached to the shoe or around the ankle. It must be secured very good so that it will hold up during the heat of battle. Do not worry about how this works or if it works, because it does and will get your time as you pass through the timing mats from the start to the finish. Look for instructions in your race packet and follow the directions to the T! Zip ties will be made available if you need them. Obstacles: We don t have a lot of rules but one is that you must go through all obstacles to consider yourself a finisher. If you decide you can t do this then you must disqualify your self and leave the course. At no time should you put yourself or others around you in an unsafe atmosphere. If you decide to seek assistance from your battle friends you will be an official finisher, so help each other. Rules and Guidelines: Official entrants (meaning you filled out the registration, signed the waiver, and paid the fee) are subject to the following rules and guidelines(after all we have to have a little law and order around here). We want to have a fun and safe event, so entrants must do the following: *Must abide by all instructions given from the race director, race staff, volunteers and medical personnel. *Must understand and acknowledge that Buffalo Battle is a crazy way to spend the day and accepts all risks associated with the event(signing of the waiver is a must). *Must be physically able to complete the course and all obstacles. *Must be 12 years old or older on race day in order to compete. *Must wear the provided bib number clearly shown on the front of the torso. No entrant will be allowed to race without a bib number. *Must agree to have your picture made by friends, family and official race photographers and allow Buffalo Battle to use the photos future marketing materials for promotional purposes. *No wheel devices of any kind are allowed on the official course and will be removed immediately if found on the course. *Urinating or defecating on or anywhere near the course is strictly prohibited(that is why we provide porta potties). *Registration is closed when the maximum capacity is reached(this is determined by each individual venue). Course Officials: Any entrant who disobeys instructions from any course official is subject to disqualification and /or removal from the race. This includes but is not limited to unsportsmanlike behavior, offensive language, nudity. No entrant, after leaving the course, may return to the course. No short cuts are allowed and entrants must stay on the marked course. No entrant will be allowed to use an unregistered pace setter. The race bib and timing chip must be worn at all times. Non-participants are strictly prohibited from entering or accessing the Buffalo Battle course or any obstacles at any time for any reason without prior written approval from event officials. Buffalo Battle Safety: In case of injury Buffalo Battle medical personnel may remove any entrant if they feel they should be removed, based on their medical opinion. Entrants assume all responsibility for all medical expenses incurred as a result of training and participating in Buffalo Battle events. Race organizers may cancel or delay the race due to severe weather or in the event of a disaster. It is recommended that participants wear running shoes and dress appropriately. Amendments to Existing Rules: Event officials reserve the right to modify any event rule at any time for any reason Entrants shall be responsible for knowing any modification to the Buffalo Battle rules published prior to the event. Gear Check: There will be a check gear tent for you to leave the stuff you will not carry while racing. It is your option to use this or not and your option as to what you might leave at this tent. Parking: Parking will be available and there will be signs. We recommend car pooling if you have at least one friend!! Battle Refreshment and Hydration: During the race there will be a water station at the half-way point(approximately 1.65 miles) of the race course. Water and electrolyte drink, will be available after you cross the finish line. After you finish the race you will be given a ticket for one free beer. This is a BYOB event. *One beer is included for each entrant who is of legal age to consume alcohol. Be responsible-do not drink and drive. Party Like An Animal: Beer, bands, and fun will begin approximately 30 minutes before the start of the first wave until 1 hour after the start of the final wave. Race Photos: Buffalo Battle will have an official event photo company such as ASI on site taking many photos for your album.
