The Chess Club strives for every student to develop a lifelong passion, in which they can continually grow and appreciate, as well as to empower each student to use critical thinking and concentration throughout their daily lives. Classes emphasize building a strong foundation of basic chess knowledge and are perfect for anyone willing to learn the game and develop a unique passion. Topics include tactics training, understanding how to analyze, learning proper endgame technique, assessment of strengths & weaknesses, and more. Edu-Chess, established now over twelve years, is an after school program teaching chess in a scholastic and fun environment. Chess programs at Edu-Chess are designed to foster intellectual and emotional growth in children.
Roger Weerasinghe, Director of Edu-Chess, requires all teachers to be certified Edu-Chess instructors. All instructors are held to high standards, and many of them have been teaching chess for over five years, making Edu-Chess the leader in chess instruction for children in the Los Angeles area.
