What's Included

Based at Gulf Coast Research Lab this three-day workshop will look at the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill research from multiple avenues (biology, geochemistry, etc.). Participants will have the opportunity to engage with current CONCORDE (Coastal River Dominated Ecosystems) research and scientists. Additionally, the workshop will include a field day to Deer Island. This opportunity is available to high school, community college and middle school teachers from the Gulf region interested in gaining valuable knowledge about the oil spill to share with their students. Participants will receive a stipend ($100/day), CEUs is appropriate, lunch daily and instructional materials for use in the classroom. A continental breakfast will be served each morning. Dormitory accommodations may be available at GCRL for out-of-town travelers. Please ask well in advance to check availability and make a reservation.
