This class if for beginner clay and wheel students and covers all the basics, teaching children to explore their creativity while learning the art of ceramics. Your child will learn how to make small pots and vessels through hand building techniques such as pinch, coil, and slab construction. He or she will also learn the basic skill of "throwing" on the potter's wheel. This session consists of wheel demonstrations and hands-on experience. Students will also finish their pieces with surface decorating techniques and glaze. Sample projects may include, but are not limited to, small wheel thrown pots, hand built tiles, vessels, wind chimes, jewelry holders, decorative boxes, plaques, and containers. Finished projects will be fired and shipped to your child approximately three weeks after the course concludes.
