The LYSA Summer Soccer Camp develops player skills while players have fun and enjoy soccer. Instruction is by professional teachers with extensive soccer backgrounds. The camp environment is safe with shelter from hazardous weather. Morning & afternoon camps are offered for ages 7 yrs through high school. A morning Soccer Starter Camp is available for young players ages 5-10 years old who want an introduction to soccer to see if they like it.
LYSA Summer Soccer Camp Activities
The LYSA Summer Soccer Camp develops ball skills, speed, balance and rhythm. The camp environment is safe with shelter from hazardous weather. An outdoor morning ($135) & indoor afternoon camp ($170) are offered. "Early Bird" signup ends May 19 and each offering will increase by $50 on May 20 to $185 (morning camps) & $220 (afternoon indoor camp).
Pre-Camp Individualized Instruction Options
Pre-camp individualized training is available each day from 7:45 am until 9 am for $60 for the week. Individualized training can be customized to develop speed & agility through instruction in form running. Soccer-related training can also be individualized for first-step advantage, balance, core development, flexibility, rhythm, and stretching the upper & lower body.
Camp Directors & Instructors
The camp is directed by Jason Behler, Todd Bretz & Emily Coleman who are experienced high school coaches. Each teaches in the Fayette County Public School System, so that professional instruction is the signature of this camp. The Soccer Starter Camp is intended for those who have not been involved in soccer before or are too young for the regular morning soccer camp. Small group instruction is achieved through an instructional staff of former college soccer players.
Specifics of Camp Instruction & Training
The LYSA Summer Soccer Camp will emphasize: 1. Ball mastery, 2. Passing and receiving, 3. Shooting & finishing, 4. 1 v 1 attacking & defending, 5. Group play.
The Soccer Starter Camp
This morning offering is for the child who wants to learn about soccer but has never played before or is too young for regular morning camp offerings. The child must be able to be comfortable with the half day camp format. Campers that prove to be too advanced for the Starter Camp once it is underway will be graduated to the appropriate age group in the morning half day camp.
Strength/Agility/Speed & Foot-skills Futsal Camp
This speed and foot-skills camp will be conducted indoors for older players (8 yrs old and older) from 1-5 pm each day at Southern Hills United Methodist Church on Harrodsburg Rd across from Sullivan University. It will involve instructors from the HIT Center and experienced LYSA Camp Instructors. Registration is limited to 50 participants.
Foot-skills & Futsal Camp Details
The LYSA Foot-skills Futsal Indoor Camp is a high intensity camp conducted in an air-conditioned environment that will allow maximum conditioning to be obtained safely indoors during what outside would be the heat of the day. It is most suitable for players seeking to advance their strength, speed & skills in order to improve their play and succeed at the club and high school levels. It is particularly appropriate for players that are considering trying out for high school soccer.
The LYSA Camp Schedule
7:45am-9am --- Pre-camp Individualized Training (Henry Clay HS). 9am- noon --- Morning half-day camp (Henry Clay HS). 9am-noon --- Starter Camp (Henry Clay HS). 1pm-5pm --- LYSA Strength/Agility/Speed & Footskills Futsal Indoor Camp at Southern Hills UMC.
LYSA reserves all rights to camper placements in appropriate groups. LYSA also reserves the right to cancel any camp day(s) for reasons of safety, to conduct soccer instruction in sheltered/ protected buildings when indicated because of weather-related factors, and to dismiss a camper for behavioral problems, or when presenting a hazard to themselves or others without refund. PLAYERS REGISTERED FOR CAMPS AT H CLAY HS AND AT SOUTHERN HILLS UMC ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR TRANSPORTATION TO EACH SITE.
