What's Included

In this first of its kind class, students will learn the basics of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and build projects from wood and other soft materials with our CNC router. From custom engravings to cutting precise parts for larger projects, a CNC router is a highly useful tool for the home fabricator, hobbyist and budding engineer. Precision parts not easily made with traditional tools can be quickly produced with our new CNC router that is equivalent to that which a serious hobbyist might purchase. In CNC 101, students will spend time learning basic CAD design, tool path software and G-Code software in the computer lab. After their designs are ready, the class will transition to the workshop to learn about the machine controls, different tools, cutting speeds, all of which are essential in properly using a computer controlled router. Once these skills are mastered, students will use the CNC machine to fabricate their projects.
