The race is a normal 10K & 5K run with a 1-mile Trot with Spot that is primarily for dogs with owners running or walking with them. Runners or walkers with dogs in the 5K are asked to pease start in the back and keep your dog and other race participants safe by being very careful and cautious. You'll have a great time and so will everyone else. The 10K is primarily for runners but we had one pooch in the 10K last year and he did very well - race wise and behavior wise!
New Course Maps can be seen on www.5starraceproductions.com under "Course Information". The races starts and finishes at Brunswick Forest Veterinary Hospital. The 10K course goes around Evangeline Drive, up Brunswick Forest Pkwy, around Meadow Park and back via the same route. The 5K course travels around Evangeline Blvd, makes a U-turn just before reaching Brunswick Forest Parkway, and returns to the start via the same route.
No Dog/No Problem
Runners without dogs are welcome for sure in all races. The Hound Hustle 5K is well suited for runners and walkers with dogs, as is the 1-mile Trot with Spot. The 10K is primarily for runners but if your dog is fit and used to running 6.2 miles then they are certainly welcome to run with you. Again, extreme caution is required while running with your well behaved dog.
All Dogs must be on a leash at all times. Running with your dog adds an extra level of risk to you and those runnning around you. Please keep your dog close while running and practice running with them before the race. Non-competitive participants will be asked to start in the back and enjoy the run or walk without worrying about your dog or other participants in the race.
Micro-Chip Implanting Race Morning
The great Staff of Brunswick Forest Veterinary Hospital will be doing ($30) Micro-Chip Implants for your pet on race day for all race participants. You'll have a much better chance of locating your best 4-legged friend in case they get lost and this fee is less than half the normal amount so it's quite a nice benefit for your participation in our event.
