About This Activity

The Capital City River Run weekend of races is one of the Lansing area's premiere running events. The Impression 5 Half Marathon offers a scenic course featuring paved trails, parks, scenic treks along rivers and a portion of the Michigan State University campus. The Cooley Law School 5K Race for Education circumvents the state capitol and uses the same finish as the half marathon. The event also features the Sohn Children's Races on Saturday, September 14.

General Information:

The 21st Annual Capital City River Run Weekend of Races features the Impression 5 half marathon and the Cooley 5K Race for Education walk/run on Sunday, September 15 and the Sohn Children's Races on Saturday, September 14. All events will start and finish in downtown Lansing.

The Impression 5 Half Marathon course passes through part of the Michigan State University campus and features some of the area’s most scenic attractions including the Lansing River Trail, Scott Woods and Hawk Island Park. In addition to the half marathon, the event includes the Cooley 5k Race for Education run/walk featuring a scenic downtown course that showcases the State Capitol Building along with other downtown attractions. Both the Half Marathon and the 5K will take place on Sunday, September 16 starting at 8;30 AM.

The Sohn Kid's Races, including a 1 mile fun run for kids age 12 and under and a quarter mile dash for kids age 7 and under will take place on SATURDAY, September 14. Kids will start in front of the Lansing Center, and will finish near the start on the Lansing River Trail.

Proceeds benefit the Impression 5 Science Center, area schools and other education programs.

Saturday, September 14th, will feature the Healthy and Fit Magazine Expo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lansing Center in downtown Lansing. Additional information on the expo can be found at http://www.healthyandfitmagazine.com/.

T-Shirts:

A long-sleeved, technical t-shirt featuring separate sizing for men and women is included with the standard entry fee fir the half marathon and 5K. Participants in the children's races will receive a short sleeve cotton t-shirt.

Fees and Registration:

Registration payments are non-refundable. Half Marathon: Entry fee through March 25 is $40, March 26 through August 12 is $50, August 13 through September 14 is $60. Late registration on race day (September 15) is $65.

Mail-in registration is also available.

5k Run/Walk: Entry fee through Marh 25 is $25, March 26 through August 12 is $30, August 13 through September 14 is $35, Late registration on race day (September 15) is $40.

The entry fee for both children’s races is $5.

Packet Pick-up: At the Lansing Center, 333 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI 48933 on Saturday, September 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in conjunction with the Healthy and Fit Expo and on Sunday, September 15 from 7:00 to 8:15 a.m.

Awards: Special awards go to top male and female open, masters, and grandmasters finishers in the half marathon and 5K races. Age group awards go five deep in the half marathon for 13 & under, 14-19, and then in 5 year increments going as high as necessary. Awards go three deep in the 5K. Competitive race walkers are welcome to participate, but will not be considered a separate division.

The Sohn Children's races will not be timed or scored.

Non-competitive walkers are welcome in both races, but participants must be able to complete the half marathon course in 4 hrs, 20 min.

Results: Results will be posted immediately after the races at the finish. Results will also be available later on race day online at www.playmakers.com, www.gaultracemanagement.com, or www.ccriverrun.com.

Timing: We will be using tag timing for the 5K and half marathon events. Runners will be given a timing tag with instructions for use. An electronic mat at the start and finish lines will record times as runners complete the race. Timing tags are disposable.

Special note – Organizers reserve the right to modify the race courses and distances in the unlikely event of flooding and other circumstances and occurrences that are beyond our control.

Directions and Parking: Races will start in front of the Lansing Center, 333 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI 48933. Finish will be in nearby Adado Riverfront Park. Information about city parking ramps can be found at cityoflansingmi.com. Prior to the race, check the event web site www.ccriverrun.com for information about parking, road construction, and access to downtown Lansing.
