Since its opening in July, 2012, the biggest U.S. battleship ever built is an extremely popular destination for veterans and tourists alike! Located in San Pedro, the USS Iowa has hosted more U.S. Presidents than any other battleship in history and is the only one of her kind to serve in World War II. Designated the "World's Greatest Naval Ship" due to her big guns, heavy armor, speed and modernization, this amazing ship has now been transformed into a floating museum at the L.A. harbor for all the world to admire. An interactive self-guided tour will allow you to experience what life at sea was like during active duty. Yacht Club, you can enjoy a docent-led tour of the Maritime Museum, where the history of the Chumash Indians, whaling and local history comes alive. The museum is filled with maritime art, ship models, artifacts and exhibits. Suggested: walking shoes, the ship has stairs, ladders and narrow walkways.
