The 3 Rivers Run course will provide participants with fun challenges as well as beautiful vistas. Join a biking group or compete as a centurian and use the race to prime yourself for your summer season while contributing to a great cause. The event is designed to raise money for and to create awareness about the problems of domestic and sexual violence. Proceeds will benefit the 3 domestic violence shelters in Northeastern Oregon: Shelter From the Storm, Safe Harbors, and Mayday.
ABOUT THE CYCLING EVENT
The race is an 70/100-mile course for cyclists looking for a fun, challenging experience. Cyclists may form a team of up to 5 riders for the 70 miler, or complete a fantastic century ride! Each rider is asked to pay a minimum of $50. However, as this is a charity event, we ask that each rider raise as much as possible - $75 min. is suggested(would include a t-shirt). 3 Rivers Mugs will be given to all raising $250 or more. Prizes for the individual/team raising the most pledges will be given.
ABOUT THE RUNNING EVENT
The 10K, half(13 mi)marathon course is for runners looking for a fun, challenging experience. Runners may form a team of up to 5. Each athlete is asked to pay the minimum of $50.Sponsors may be solicited to pay this fee. However, as this is a charity event, we ask that each individual raise as much pledge money as possible (a $75 minimum is encouraged). 3 Rivers Mugs will be given to all those raising $250 or more.
The course provides a variety of terrain that is suitable for all levels of ability. The novice will have some outdoor fun, and the serious athlete will be tested.
The race will start and end at Pioneer Park in La Grande. Starting times will be at 6 or 7 a.m.according to your estimated time of arrival. We would like all contestants to end at Pioneer Park at 1 p.m. Please estimate your speed and plan your start time accordingly. Bibs will be marked with your start-time at the starting line.

A tour thru the Grande Ronde Valley! Beginning at Pioneer, follow Alder to Jefferson, lt on 2nd, rt on Black Hawk Tr, rt on Mt. Glen, lt Fruitdale to Mcallister , turn lt onto Hwy 203 to Union. Lt onto hwy 237 to Cove; Lower Cove Rd to hwy 82 to Imbler; lt on Summerville Rd, rt onto Courtney & on to Hwy 82 to Elgin; bk on Hwy 204, Summerville Rd, Hunter Lane, Stanley, Mt. Glen, Blackhawk Tr, 2nd, Jefferson, and back to Pioneer where a barbeque, party, and celebrations await you.
THE 100 MILE COURSE
From Pioneer, follow Alder to Jefferson, lt on 2nd, rt on Black Hawk Tr, rt on Mt. Glen, lt on Fruitdale to Mcallister, turn lt onto Hwy 203 to Union. Lt onto Hwy 237 to Cove; Lower Cove Rd to Hwy 82 to Imbler; lt on Summerville Rd, rt onto Courtney & on to Hwy 82 to Elgin.Visit the aide station, follow Palmer Junction Rd for a 10 mi HILLY out-and-back; head bk on Hwy 204, Summerville Rd, Hunter Lane, Stanley, Mt. Glen, Blk Hawk Tr, to Pioneer where a barbeque, party, and celebrations await you.
The cost per individual is $50; $65 includes a t-shirt. This is a charity event so the more pledge money, the better! Our goal this year is $23,000. Help us get there!!!Corporate sponsors may be solicited to pay entry fees. Families' fee is $100 plus $15/t-shirt. Start EARLY to raise your funding. All those raising $250 or more will receive 3 Rivers Mugs.
This is a charity event. We ask that each participant collect pledges for the race. Remember, this is a fundraiser for a GREAT cause; most people are willing to give $5-$10. It is easiest to collect your $ at the time of solicitation. The individual challenge is to raise more than our 2007 record holder, Roger Averbeck (Enterprise) - $2386.The team, Run Kathy Run 2008 record to beat is $2640. Prizes for the most pledges will be given.
We have set our goal at $18,000 this year. This is about $2000 more than 2011. Think of the programs that you'll help fund if we reach that goal! LET'S DO IT!!
WHERE THE PROCEEDS GO
ALL proceeds go to The Shelter from the Storm, Mayday, or Safe Harbors, depending on which program is in your area. These programs offer valuable services such as crisis intervention, counseling, support groups, transportation, advocacy in the legal system, 24 hour crisis hotline;aide in the form of sheltering victims and their immediate family;making community presentations in order to create more awareness about the prevalence of domestic violence in our communities.Thank you for your support!
THE TEAM CAPTAIN/Pledge Packets
The captain of each team will be responsible for keeping their teammates appraised of event ?happenings?, distributing pledge sheets to team members and collecting all monies raised. Pledge packets should be picked up from the Shelter Office. All money is to be turned in before or at the time of registration. T-shirts will then be given to each participant. Teams need to decide team name, individual distances and team cheers! Having the loudest team support on the course is your challenge.
T-SHIRTS AND REGISTRATION PACKET PICK-UP
T-shirts and registration packets may be picked up Friday, June 1st at The Mountainworks on 1307 Adams in La Grande, between 4-6 p.m. or at Riverside Park on race day. Remember, your money MUST be turned in at this time. Families wishing a t-shirt MUST advise your captain in advance so enough shirts can be ordered. A fee of $15 per shirt will be allocated.

Awards will be given for the top century rider, and the top individual/team winners for each event. The BIG Prizes (mugs created by local artist Bob Jensen) will be given to the team who raises the most money for this fundraising event. A beautiful ceramic plate will be given to the individual who raises the most money. Also, all contestants? names will be put in a hat for random drawings during the picnic (must be present to win).
Ride/run for the pure fun of it!! Then join us at the end for the ?Grande Finale?! There will be live music (by the local and talented SUMMIT RIDGE), food, and prizes for the top finishers and the top money raisers. Participants will eat free; non-participants will be charged $5 or $10/family. We can then all clap each other on the back for an event well done!
