Athletes start the day with a swim in the crystal blue waters of Hapuna Beach State Park along the Kohala Coast of the Big Island. Then they take on the challenging 56 mile bike course on the legendary Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway. The day finishes with a 13.1 mile run through paradise. State and Big Island Slots:
State and Big Island Resident’s meeting residency requirements are eligible for resident lottery slots for the 2013 Ironman World Championship. Athletes will be required to complete the 2013 Ironman 70.3 Hawai'i within the official cut-off times to qualify for the lottery. The lottery will take place the week following the 2013 Ironman 70.3 Hawai'i.
Important Residency Requirements:
Athletes interested in a State or Big Island Resident lottery slot must be full time residents of the State of Hawai'i for at least three years before the upcoming Ironman World Championship race. For example, for 2013 you must have resided full time in Hawai'i since October 12, 2010. Full time means not being gone for more than 4 months. Owning a vacation home in Hawai'i or a full time residence elsewhere does not qualify you for residency.
2013 IRONMAN 70.3 Hawai'i will serve as one of the worldwide qualifying events for the 2013 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada and 2013 Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, HI. *** Entrants must be at least 18 years old on race day ***
USA Triathlon will sanction 2013 Ironman 70.3 Hawai'i. To complete the online registration process, athletes will need to enter their USAT annual license number or purchase a one-day license ($12.00 USD) during online registration. Athletes must bring their photo identification and show proof of current USAT membership during athlete check-in. Otherwise, it will be required to purchase a one day license on-site.
