About This Activity

History

Last spring, this event had a field of over 270 registered entries. Ryan Woods won the race as he covered the flat downtown route in 24:50. Heather Magill also made it five in a row as she won the women’s competition in 28:58. Magill holds the women’s course mark of 28:01 set in 2011. Devin Swann holds the men’s course record of 24:00 which he ran in 2010.

Starting Times

The race will start at the Neuseway Nature Center and Campground. The mile begins at 8:30 a.m. and the 8K starts at 9:00 a.m.

Awards

Cash prizes are awarded to the top three males and top three females in the 8K - $500 each to the first-place male and female finishers, $300 in cash to the second-place finishers and $150 to the third-place finishers. Medals will also be given to the first three finishers in each of the following age groups: (both sexes) 14-under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, and 60-over.

Lenior County Awards

The top three male and the top three female finishers from Lenior County will also receive $50 each.

Entry fees/T-Shirts

The entry fee for the 5K is $25 and $30 on race day. The fee for the mile is $15, with no late fee. The entry fees include a t-shirt.

Pre-race Dinner

A pre-race dinner for runners, volunteers and spectators will be held at 6 pm Friday, the 22nd, at the Hampton Inn in Kinston. Race packets can be picked up and late entrants can register at that time. Race packets can be also be picked up and late entrants can register on race day beginning at 7:00 am at the Neuseway Nature Center.
