The 3rd Annual Burger Run on Nov 17th may not be the run for you. This 15 mile trail run is equally challenging and picturesque. The Burger Run uses the rugged Whiskey Flat Trail starting in Kernville and finishing at the renowned McNally Fairview Lodge. McNallys is best known for its mouth-watering giant steaks, but somewhat less known and equally revered is the hamburger shack which serves up hamburgers good enough to make the most arden vegetarian wane. To all who finish the run, a complimentary McNally burger awaits you. To get there, expect a tough run on a trail that is somewhat neglected in the middle and rarely sees much even terrain and resembles a favorite rollar coaster. Separated from even a road is the Kern River, so participants need to be self-reliant and comfortable with trail runs. Three water stations provide minimal support with water and first aid and an option for those not yet up to the full 15 miles. Besides the relay option, there is the "trek" choice. This is the most popular event. The Trek is for those fit participants that aren';t concerned about competeing for finishing medals and time, and just want to walk, or run walk the trail.. This event starts two hour earlier at 8:00. New this year is the Double Burger Run for those who crave a "double" McNally Burger. The Double begins and finishes at the Fairview Lodge after doing a down and back circuit of the Whiskey Flat Trail. For those bold runners doing the Double Burger Run, your start time is 8:00 at McNallys Fairview Lodge 15 miles north of Kernville. Because of the shortened fall days we have a 12:30 cut off time at the turn around point at the Whiskey Flat Trailhead. Other cutoff times will apply at the two aid stations for your safety.
