Wednesday May 4, 11, 18, 25, Jun 1, 8, 15 & 22 from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. AND Saturdays Apr 30, May 7, 14, 21, Jun 4, 11, 18 & 25 from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. AND one Friday, Jun 3. Please note: This is a full program and not a continuing education offering. This program is accredited by ABHES. In this 90-hour program you will learn the skills associated with obtaining patent specimens used in the diagnostics of patient care. These skills will include venipuncture using three different methods of collections and capillary sticks using the fingers of adults and heels of infants. You will learn multiple tests used in the physician’s office including glucose monitoring, sedimentation rates, hemoglobins, hematocrits, blood typing and cholesterol testing. Other testing methods such as Strep cultures, Influenza cultures, Urinalysis, Stool samples and Mono will be learned. Methods in proper collection, preparing and processing of specimens as well as transport will be covered. This course gives you a good solid knowledge to work in different settings as a phlebotomist. Included in your class fee is your textbook, one set of scrubs and the cost of your national Phlebotomy exam. In addition to the 80 hours of in-class work, you will be required to complete an externship (which consists of 30 blood draws). You will then be able to sit for the Phlebotomy exam, which you will schedule with the instructor. IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Registration will close on Tuesday, May 3 at 5:00 P.M. CST.
