KAG after-school programs engage children in interactive gallery tours and hands-on workshops in our studios to broaden their understanding of the dominant themes of our exhibitions. As with our camps, these programs foreground experimentation and student-led discussions with the aim of building participants’ confi dence and abilities to express themselves through art. Combining science, history and art, these workshops introduce participants to four kinds of early animation toys that employ an optical illusion called persistence of vision, allowing multiple images to blend into a single moving image in the human mind. Participants will create their own thaumatropes, phenakistoscopes, zoetropes and flip books. Space is limited, early registration is encouraged.
