Lighthouse Larry's Dream is now a Reality

When World Renown Artist, Lighthouse Larry decided to swim, in his native town of Islamorada, to Alligator Lighthouse and back all alone, self supported, his friends thought he was crazy. He made it successfully, and now it's everyone's turn to try. Try it ALONE or as part of a TEAM.

Fundraising Opportunity
All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Pool in Islamorada to help provide scholarship opportunities to those in need and to aid the support of treasured Historic Lighthouses on Florida's Coastal Waterways


Top Three Overall Male and Female Winners, and Winning Team will be awarded.  All participants awards TBD.

Wetsuits and Fins

Wetsuits and Fins are allowed in order to help participants accomplish the challenge!!!

Independent Swimmers

All Individual swimmers must have a support Craft (kayak, paddleboard, or small motorized john boat


All teams are allowed one motorized vessel or up to 3 small craft vessels

Time Restrictions

6 Hour Time Limit Each swimmer on a team must swim at least 30 minutes.

Additional Information

**There will be a time limit on the 8 Mile Swim, everyone must complete the race or is subject to disqualification after 6 hrs. Every swimmer must provide their own support craft, one motorized support craft allowed per team (kayaks and paddleboards recommended instead) Registration includes an official swim cap, T-shirt, and participant pack with a lot of goodies.
