Indy Parks and Bike Indianapolis are hosting the "Explore the Trails on your Bike" ride series this summer, featuring different trails for each event. The upcoming ride titled "A Promenade of Murals" will take place on August 14, 2024, at 6 pm at Riverside Park (Burdsal and E. Riverside Pkwy, 2404 Riverside Dr E).
Participants aged 8 years and up can sign up for one or all three events and are encouraged to bring their own bike and helmet. For those without a bike, Pacers Bike Share will provide bikes, if a bike is needed this option may be selected during the registration process. If a bike is needed , on the day of the event a Pacers Bike Share representative will be available to explain the bike checkout and return process. Helmets are mandatory.
The event will begin with a short cycling safety session by Bike Indianapolis, followed by a slow-roll ride covering approximately 5 miles along the Fall Creek Trail and White River Trail. The newly extended Fall Creek Trail connects to the White River Trail, offering a seamless path from downtown Indianapolis to Fort Benjamin Harrison. The White River Greenway spans nearly 7 miles from Raymond Street through White River State Park to Riverside Park, linking with other trails like the Eagle Creek Greenway and the Indianapolis Cultural Trail. Participants with their own bikes are advised to use sturdy bikes with wider tires due to sections of rough pavement.
Pacers Bike Share operates a network of 50 bike stations across Indianapolis, facilitating public access to bikes for a fee.
