What's Included

Participants in this session will use their knowledge of the Newbery book award winner "Al Capone Does My Shirts" by Gennifer Choldenko, and attempt to creatively adapt it into a 90-second film. They will work as a team to select important scenes, write dialogue, draw a storyboard, create sets, costumes and props, act, shoot, and edit a film with the ultimate goal of having a finished product that may be submitted to the 2016 90-Second Newbery Film Festival for possible screening in New York, Chicago, and Portland, Oregon. This workshop seeks to combining a love of reading and interest in film making. It is highly recommended that students read the text prior to the workshop. Ms. Suzanne Russell earned her M.S. in Library Science from Indiana University. She is the subject area librarian for Brebeuf’s Religious Studies and Science departments. She is a former Girl Scout leader; enjoys books, cooking, baking; and loves all things outdoors. Email Mrs. Russell directly at srussell@brebeuf.org with questions.
