Be sure and visit the Honor Ride Crane Facebook page and the Ride 2 Recovery Facebook page for more details on the national organization and other Ride 2 Recovery events.Ride 2 Recovery is produced by the Fitness Challenge Foundation, a registered 501(C)3 charitable organization in partnership with the Veterans Administration Volunteer Service Office, to benefit mental and physical rehabilitation programs that feature cycling as the core activity. Cycling is an important part of the recovery process because it is an activity that almost all patients with mental and physical disabilities can participate, and it speeds the rehabilitation process. The Crane Naval base was originally set aside as a national forest area until World War II when it became a large ammunition manufacturing and storage facility. Nearly all of the 100 square miles is still forest and has received numerous environmental awards from the Department of Natural Resources.
