Should your son throw curveballs? - Lots of interesting discussion continues around this hot topic. Here is a summary of the latest study from Fleisig and Andrews (ASMI) that is directly relevant to this question. It is a follow-up to an earlier ASMI study that found strong correlation between overuse and youth pitcher injury rates. Their earlier study also found a correlation, not surprisingly, of fastball velocity with overuse (and, of course, the injury rates associated with overuse).
