The inaugural Dubois County Youth Triathlon is set to take place on July 27th at Huntingburg City Park in Huntingburg, Indiana. This triathlon will be for kids ages 6-14 and consist of swimming, biking, and running. It is a USAT sanctioned event and is included in the circuit with the Seymour, Indiana and Columbus Youth Triathlons.
This exciting opportunity is available to anyone interested as long as you are a USAT member. If you are an annual member, you will be required to provide your membership number in order to register. If you are not, you will be required to purchase a one day membership for $10 or an annual membership for $15 at registration time. This money goes directly to USAT and not to DC Multisport.
Training Program: A training program for anyone interestd will be offered each Sunday beginning June 30th - July 21st at 9:00am at the Huntingburg & Jasper public pools as well as Northeast Dubois High School pool. Each training session will last an hour and educate the kids on how to prepare for a triathlon.
Course:The race will begin at 9:00am (EST) at the Huntingburg City Pool with the bike ride taking the participant on 1 or 2 city streets that will be completely closed for the duration of the event. After biking, the run will take place around the Huntingburg City Park on grass, blacktop, and dirt paths finishing inside Historic League Stadium.Distances:
- 6 (Splash n Dash) 50m swim .5 mile run
- 7-8 100m swim 2 mile bike .5 mile run
- 9-10 100m swim 2 mile bike .5 mile run
- 11-12 200m swim 4 mile bike 1 mile run
- 13-14 200m swim 4 mile bike 1 mile run
Proceeds: The proceeds for the Dubois County Youth Triathlon will go to the Dubois County Mentors For Youth organization. By supporting Mentors for Youth, you can be confident that you are truly making a difference! The program offers each child a chance to reach his or her highest potential by matching them one-on-one with a caring adult mentor. Benefits to the children include better school performance, better relationships with family and peers, increased self esteem, learning how to make better choices, learning the value of education and work ethic, and learning better life skills.
Event schedule and times
Packet Pickup: Packet pickup will be at Huntingburg City Park on Friday, July 26th from 5:30pm-7:00pm (EST) & Saturday, July 27th from 7:00am-8:30am. A waiver will be available for all parents to sign at registration.
Course Briefing: A MANDATORY course briefing will begin on Saturday, July 27th at 8:30am (EST)
