What's Included

This two-week course is for writing enthusiasts as well as for those who find writing more challenging but would like to try something new. In this course, we will read and discuss a variety of types of personal, informal essays. Though this is a writing course, by reading essays as writers, we will also hone our close reading skills as we study the craft of writers. Through readings, discussions, and writing exercises, students will develop their own voice and style, as well as learn about using dialogue, narration, and point-of-view. Essential to all good writing is revision, and we will examine and employ revision strategies as we polish our essays. This class meets four times each week, and students will be asked to write both in class and outside of class, especially during the longer breaks between classes. Writers’ Workshop is taught by Academic Coach/Tutor and former Blake English Teacher Bryn Hennessy. This course does not meet on Thursdays.
