National Veterans Day in Birmingham will be hosting a 5K Family Fun Run/Walk and 10K Ruck Challenge to benefit veteran charities.The 10K Ruck challenge requires runners to wear a weighted vest or pack for the duration of the run. Packs worn by men must weigh 45 pounds and 25 pounds for women. It is recommended that runners put together teams. Times will be figured as the average of the team members. There will be several military units competing in the 10K Ruck Challenge. The winning teams will determine which charities will be proceed recipients. The first place team's charity will receive 50% of the total, while 2nd place receives 30% and 3rd receives 20%.
