About This Activity

Calling all Hawaii runners, walkers and your four-legged dog pals, get dressed up, bring your glow sticks/paint and be on the lookout for the foam pit, “bubbles” station, laser lights and more throughout the stadium route! Before and after the run enjoy local grinds from some of the best food vendors around the island as well as unique items from Hawaii’s crafters and businesses specializing in both human and doggie products at the expo! Additional activities include owner-pet look-a-like contest, Tails of Hawaii "waggin" doggie play zone & Keiki fun zone too! We're encouraging everyone to come out pet or not and enjoy the festivities! Partial proceeds of this event to benefit the Hawaiian Humane Society.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

Is the race hard?
No, that’s no fun and you won’t be timed! This race is for family, friends and their four-legged pals to come on out and enjoy then stay for all the festivities in the Plaza! Plus we don’t want you to miss out on the foam pit, “bubbles” station, laser lights and more throughout the route!

 

Can I take pictures?
Of course! We encourage everyone to take tons of photos and share them with us on Facebook and Twitter!

 

Are kids allowed?
Yes, kids are more than welcome. We love kids just as much as dogs! Kids 4 and under are free, but will not receive a shirt. All kids must have a release waiver signed by a parent/guardian and turned in before they are allowed to participate. The waiver can be obtained and signed at the event.

 

Can my family watch?
Family members that do not wish to participate in the run have the option of enjoying all the festivities, good food and vendor booths for a $10 entrance fee. Color wrist bands will be sold the day of the event.

 

Can I wear costumes?
Yes! We love costumes! The more creative and “glowish” the better!

 

Do I have to bring a dog?
Absolutely not!  Come out and support a great cause with or without your pet. Dogs aren’t required to run, but they’ll have just much fun as you will and they’re free. We just ask that you have one dog per adult only if you choose to bring your pet.

 

Are there any rules about bringing a dog?
Yes we do have a few rules of safety so everyone can enjoy the event:
-All the dogs must be on leash and managed by an adult at all times.
-Owners need to pick up after their dogs at all times. 
-Owners are responsible to have full control of their dogs.
-No aggressive dogs allowed, period!
-All dogs need to be properly vaccinated before entering the event. 
-No Female dogs “in-season”

 

What time does the race begin?
The race begins at 7PM, and then we'll release waives every 5 minutes or so. We recommend getting there 45-60 minutes early so you have plenty of time to park and walk around the expo!  After the event, be sure to grab a bite to eat or shop around and enjoy all the other expo activities. Event will end at 9PM.

 

Can I Walk?
Walking is totally acceptable here at the stadium. You will be one of many who will be walking. We don't time the race and it is non-competitive, so you won't feel any pressure.

 

Who does it benefit?
We have partnered with the Hawaiian Humane Society once again in support of animal adoptions!  

 

What's the price and how do I register?
The registration price for the 3k is $35 for adults and $20 for kids (5 – 17 years) as long as you register for the event by February 1st.  The cost will go up after that. The price includes expo activities as well.

 

Can I refund my registration?
Sorry No. Unfortunately it’s impossible for us to offer refunds. You can still pick up your packet and race goodies, or you can transfer your registration to someone else up to 1 week prior to the event.

 

Can I transfer my registration?
Yes! You can transfer your registration to someone else up to 1 week prior to the event. In order to to transfer registrations, you need to send us the name, contact info, email, and shirt size of the person to whom the registration will be transferred to. We can then take care of the rest. 

 

Can you ship my packet to me?
Since we do not charge a shipping fee, we are unable to ship out any runner packs if the participant does not pick them up at the event.

 

Can I run with without a dog?
Of course you can. We’re encouraging everyone to come out and support this great cause!

 

Is there a fee for dogs?
Pet dogs are free, however you’ll need to keep them on a leash and it’s one dog per adult.

 

Are there age limits?
Everyone is welcome to come have fun! Just remember that anyone 5 and older needs to pay a registration fee!  Strollers, and wheelchairs are welcome!

 

Will I be timed?
No timing chips, but you will have the “time of your life”!

 

When is packet pickup?
Packet pick ups will be available starting Monday, February 3, 2014 through Friday, February 7, 2014 between the hours of 9am - 4pm at the Aloha Stadium Box Office.Two weeks before the race, emails will be sent out with specific instructions and info so you can easily get your packet and be ready for race day.

 

Please bring your confirmation ticket that was emailed to you after you registered in order to obtain your packet. You can pick up other people's packets as long as you have their confirmation ticket.

 

What is included in my Valen-tails Family 3k Fun Run packet?
Your race packet will contain:

 

  • Valen-tails Family 3k Fun Run t-shirt (as long as you register by Jan. 13, 2014)
  • Glow Lei
  • Any promo material that local sponsors might include

 

What should I wear?
You can wear what ever you want but we suggest glow paint or additional glow sticks so everyone can see you throughout the course.

 

 

 

 

 

Event schedule and times

Packet pick ups will be available starting Monday, February 3, 2014 through Friday, February 7, 2014 between the hours of 9am - 4pm at the Aloha Stadium Box Office.

Event day check in will begin at 4:30pm - 6:00pm in the North Plaza. Run to start at 7:00pm with waves going every 5 minutes.
