Neil and Suzanne Alexander established LiveLikeLou.org in 2011 when Neil was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), the devastating condition known as Lou Gehrig?s disease. Through this fund they hope to raise awareness of ALS, provide care and comfort to ALS families in Western Pennsylvania, and support scientific research targeted at finding a cure. The fund is named for baseball legend Lou Gehrig to honor the example that he set for all people living with ALS.
All riders must raise a minimum of $250 by ride day. Upon registration, please follow the link to the donation page to create your own rider fundraising page.
In August of 2012, we organized the first annual LiveLikeLou Bike Ride, raising $14,000 to support ALS patients in Western PA, fund research, and raise awareness of the disease. Please join us as we continue our efforts! The ride will begin at 7:00 AM at the Pump House. There will be a wave start -- faster riders first, followed by the slower riders. The 52 mile roundtrip ride follows The Great Allegheny Passage trail, which is mostly flat with a few rolling hills. There will be rest stops in Boston, Buena Vista, and West Newton.
$40.00 plus a $250 fundraising minimum
