Fishing Camp (ages 7-12 by August 3, 2015) Fishing campers are able to learn about the skill, fun and serenity that come along with fishing from the skilled and passionate members of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishermen’s Association (MSSA). The week begins with on-land instruction where campers learn how to tie lures, cast a line and what fish can be found in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The campers will then use their new skills to try out the fishing on the Patuxent River from the pier. There will also be the opportunity to go fishing with members of MSSA on fishing boats out on the waters of the Patuxent River. Additional time is spent learning and refining fishing skills and finishing off the week with the fun of crabbing from the boat launch area. In addition to all the fishing, campers will also have the opportunity to do archery, kayaking, field games and complete a special Fishing Camp craft. Each afternoon, campers are provided an afternoon snack and each week a chance to make S’mores. The week ends with “Tye-Dye Friday” for a take-home memory of the week at camp.
