The Tenth Annual Southeastern Summer Theatre Institute carries forward the company's mission to create professional performers on-stage and off, focusing not only on developing triple threat performers but also the type of mature actor that directors WANT to work with. During daily rehearsals with our nationally recognized production staff, students will work in an environment that is comparable to a professional theatre. This is not theatre for the faint of heart. And these students are put to the test daily. While students should expect to spend their days singing, acting and dancing, they'll also be unconsciously be creating the 'family' dynamic that is so prevalent throughout SSTI. While we have a strict, jam-packed schedule, our staff loves their work and their enthusiasm for doing quality theatre is infectious. Our out-of-town cast members will enjoy night time activities with resident assistants and staff (open to locals as well) and weekend day trips to experience the best that the Savannah/Hilton Head area has to offer. The Fourth Week program continues at SSTI 2017. This additional week is filled with guest artist workshops introducing students to a variety of theatrical techniques not covered during the first three weeks of rehearsal. In year's past our workshops have included focuses on Avenue Q puppetry, Advanced Improv study, a Fosse master class, Acting for the Camera, and of course our ever popular workshops with a Broadway star. In 2016, we featured both Andrew Keenan-Bolger and Corey Cott on our guest artist staff., along with professors from top Musical Theatre universities like Carnegie Mellon and Michigan. While every guest artist experience is different, it is always a cherished time by our summer family. Come see why we were ranked one of the Top Five Summer Theatre Programs in the nation in only our 6th year of existence. We've got something special happening here. And you should experience it firsthand.
