Ride 34, 68 or 103 miles on the rolling hills of Orange, Chatham, and Alamance Counties. Benefits the MS Society of the Greater Carolinas and a heart transplant fund for Glen Newhart of Durham (transplants.org). Great SAG support provided by the Radio Amateurs of the Triangle, marked roads, rest stops with plenty of fresh fruit like watermelon and pineapple and peanut butter and jam sandwiches.
Lunch on subs from Jersey Mike's of Chapel Hill (dig the red hot relish; kiddy corner on Elliot Road not far from Whole Foods), salads from Mediterranean Deli (they rock!; on Franklin Street across from McDonalds), pizza and foccacia from Radius Pizzeria & Pub (yeah, wood-fired pizza, downtown Hillsborough on Churton st.; bike friendly; bike rack and locks available! outdoor dining) and Maple View Farms fabolous ice cream. Event schedule and times
Mass start at 8:30 am. Those wanting to avoid the mass start or needing more time for the century, start at 8 am. Ride ends at 4:30 pm.
Pre-packet pick-up Thursday, September 19 from 4:30-6:30 pm at the Clean Machine in Carrboro (Bicycle Chain). You can drop cookies off and register for $15.
Paper registration available through the website. Registration available the day of the event.
Rain or shine. No Refunds. Must wear a helmet to participate. Minors must have an adult ride with them if under 16. All minors must sign a waiver the day of the event. Parents or Guardians must also sign the waiver the day of the event. Numbers must be worn by all participants on their backs for communication by the Radio Amateurs. Bring a cell phone to call in case of mechanical or getting lost or simply want a pick-up.
Directions from Raleigh; Take Exit 261 on I-40 right on the exit ramp. Go 1.27 miles Old Chapel Hill-Hillsborough Rd./Old NC-Hgwy 86. When Old Hgwy 86 becomes Churton St. continue for 1.43 miles and turn right on Margaret Lane in the center of town (about 2 rights after Weaver St. Market). Tents and tables will be at the start for registration and the rest stop. Follow signs for parking.
Directions from Greensboro; Take I-40 East via Exit 21 toward Raleigh/Durham Take I-85 N/NC 86-Truck S toward Durham for 1.5 miles. Take Exit 164 on I-85 Left on the exit ramp. 1.36 miles towards Hillsborough via Churton St. Right on Margaret Lane. Follow signs for parking.
