Join us for the 27th Anniversary of the Warren Rives 5K Race on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2013. Cheer on some familiar faces in the Mascot Challenge! Run or walk the 1-mile Fun Run around High Point Regional. The 5K course is flat and fast! Afterwards enjoy post-race refreshments, prize drawings and activities for children and families. Baby strollers are welcome, however, no bikes, skateboards, roller blades or dogs.
One of the Triad's most popular races, this event drew a crowd of over 540 entries in 2012. Joshua Wilhoit (16:42) and Natalie Lawrence (17:47) were the overall winners. Scott Dvorak (14:29) and Vicki Mitchell (16:40) hold the course records.
The fun run, for which no official times are taken, begins at 8:00 a.m. and the 5K starts at 8:30 a.m.
In the 5K, merchandise awards will be presented to the first three men overall, the first three women overall, to the first three master finishers of each sex, and to the first three Grand Master finishers of each sex. Medals will be presented and to the top three finishers in each of the following age divisions: (both sexes) 10-under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69,70-74, 75-59 and 80-over. All fun run finishers will receive a medal.
The entry fees are $20 for the 5K and $5 for the fun run. After September 1st, the fee increases to $25 for the 5K. T-shirts are guaranteed to the first 450 entrants in the 5K.
Runners can pick up their packets and late entrants can register at Omega Sports in High Point on Friday, September 20, from 5-8 p.m. and also at the Millis Regional Health Center beginning at 6:00 a.m. on race day.
