LMproject was developed in the summer of 2005 by a group of dancers in New York City, who were looking to spread their knowledge in dance and movement to children who were eager to learn how to move.
The company’s first performance was at The International Childrens Festival at Wolf Trap Performing Arts Pavilion in Virginia. Artistic Director of the company, Alisa Claire, was first a part of this festival as a child. She remembered how inspiring it was as a child. “I’ve cherished these memories for years. Its time to give back some of the knowledge, creativity, and inspiration I’ve gained from The International Childrens Festival”, said Alisa Claire. LMproject will now be performing in its sixth year with the festival.
Since working with The Fairfax Arts Council and The International Childrens Festival, we have broadened our educational programming to schools, festivals, and other organizations. We have recently joined the Creative Arts Program, hoping to spread knowledge, creativity, and confidence through the programs that we offer. We highly believe in participating with children and not just for children, so many of our programs offer hands-on learning experiences.
