The Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center offers a variety of weekend programs designed to uncover the hidden secrets of the marsh and its inhabitants. An experience along the shoreline, facilitated by a naturalist is truly a valuable one. Observe up close the lizards and snakes that live at the Interpretive Center. Learn how these animals are different from mammals, feel their scales, and watch them eat." Discuss the unique and interesting history of the Bay Area from the ice ages, to the Gold Rush, to the salt evaporation ponds of Alameda County. Walk through remnants left by settlers who worked at the shoreline over one hundred years ago.
