Marissa Lieblang was a beautiful little girl whose smile would light up a room every time she walked in. She grew quickly and learned to walk and talk. It was easy to fall in love with this cute and happy little girl. Shortly after Marissas 5th birthday, that beautiful smile began to go away. A diagnosed inoperable brin tumor quickly and painfully diminished her senses and skills. All the technology, doctors, nurses, and even all the prayers couldnt save this beautiful little girl. We lost her to childrens cancer before Marissa turned 6 years old. She is a hero and never gave up hope and neither can we. THe tragedy of this story is Marissa is only one of many. 46 children get diagnosed with cancer everyday. 1 in 330 will get cancer before they are 18 yrs. Although survival rates are greatly improving there is much more work that needs to be done. Every day children at told they have cancer and their lives and their families lives are changed forever. THis race is to honor Marissa, all cancer patients, survivors and those who have lost their fight. We all can help by raising money for RACC and racing in Marissas Race to celebrate and honor these heros.
