What's Included

K-301 (Advanced)

This is a 2-day Advanced course taught on the Pigeon River and Ocoee River in East TN. After graduating from our K-201 course, take this class for a smooth transition into the realm of big river paddling. This is Class III and III+ whitewater paddling.

This course features an evening 2½ hour indoor heated pool rolling training. Rolling is the safest and fastest self-rescue technique available for whitewater paddlers. Then we will head to the river to do some camping and paddling.

• Catching Micro-Eddies
• Advanced Paddling Techniques
• Skirting Holes
• Principles of River Rescue
• Playing on the River

• By now you know what is needed/required

• Solo/Tandem Kayaks
• Helmets
• Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
• Paddles
• Directions and Map to Lesson(s)
• ACA Certified Whitewater Kayak Instructors

Prerequisites: K-201 or equivalent. Good physical condition is important to ensure an enjoyable class; whitewater kayaking can be strenuous! The minimum age for K-301 is 15 years; children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Summary: Weeknight rolling session followed by a weekend of whitewater paddling. You will automatically be emailed a detailed itinerary of the outing, skill instruction dates, as well as directions. We will take care of the rest!

They provide outdoor adventure, opportunities for learning, spiritual renewal, and a means to escape the chaos of everyday life. We specialize in outdoor education and adventure while promoting the protection, enjoyment and understanding of the wilderness.

We offer guided and unguided trips here in Middle Tennessee, for every ability level and outdoor interest-from backpacking and climbing to canoeing and kayaking and caving and fishing to name a few. Our goal is to teach people skills to safely enjoy the outdoors and to care for the outdoors in a responsible and knowledgeable manner.
