Vocal Arts is a one-week camp that gives talented young singers the opportunity to improve their vocal skills and meet other student musicians. The camp is open to any 9 to 18-year-old boys and girls. Two choirs will be offered this year. Students who have finished grades 3-8 and have unchanged voices will be eligible for the treble youth choir. Students in grades 9-12 will be eligible for the SATB Concert Choir. Both choirs will work with conductors Dan LeJeune and Lynnel Joy Jenkins. We have an excellent staff of clinicians who teach musicianship and movement classes. The VocalArts Camp is fortunate to have the beautiful campus and state of the art facilities of James Madison University to use for classes, dorms, meals, and concerts. JMU is situated in the Shenandoah Valley in the center of Harrisonburg, VA and conveniently located just off Interstate 81. Campers who elect to stay on campus are housed in a JMU dorm -- Logan Hall dorm. The dorm is used exclusively for camp members during this time.....and they love it! Their counselors, JMU music students, supervise their activities while in the dorm and make sure that lights go out in a timely manner at the end of the day! Musicianship classes, rehearsals, and movement are held in the JMU Music Building. Family, friends, and the public are invited to join us for the final concert on Saturday, July 27, 2013.
