This will be the inaugural event for this race. This stunningly beautiful course follows the picturesque Wild and Scenic Kern River as it twist its way down the fall colored granite walls of the river valley. Starting at just over 3500 at Fairview Campground and finishing at 2700 feet at the Mountain & River Adventures Campground, this gentle downhill grade will definitely provide some fast times. Aid stations will be every two miles. Due to the direction of the one-way downhill course, shuttles will need to be arranged. Mountain River Adventures is providing a one way shuttle race morning for $8.00. There is also a pre-race check in and spaghetti dinner with a running movie Firday evening for $12.00 at the Mountain River Adventure Campground. Both of these options can be selected at the end of the online registration form. Camping is available at this finishline location complete with hot showers. Proceeds from the race benefit Run 4 A Way a local non profit organization focused on improving the fitness and well being of the Kern River Valley citizens.
Event schedule and times
The race will start at 9:00am on Saturday October 13th at the Mc Nally's Fairview Lodge at HC 1 Sierra Hwy Kernville Ca 93238. Lunch and awards will follow at the conclusion of the race at approximately noon. Awards will be given for the usual 10 year age split for both genders.
