The Foundation for Marshall Medical Centers is proud to present the Third Annual Pink Pumpkin Run to benefit mammography and cancer services at Marshall Medical Centers. The race will take place on Saturday, October 27, 2012 starting and ending at the Guntersville Civitan Park. You don�t have to run, just participate for a good cause!
THE ROUTE:The 5K walk/run will begin at Guntersville's Civitan Park, travel northeast along Sunset Drive/LB Wallace Drive and return to the Civitan Park by way of downtown Guntersville. The course is mostly flat with a few slight inclines and runs adjacent to beautiful Lake Guntersville. A water and aid station will be located at the halfway point and at the finish line. The 10K course will start at the Guntersville Rec Center and travel northeast along Sunset Drive/LB Wallace Drive and return to the Civitan Park by way of Gunter and Blount Avenues. The 10K course runs along Downtown Guntersville, through parts the historic Guntersville featuring the Whole BackStage Theater, the Guntersville Museum and the Guntersville Library. and back via Blount Avenue. The 10K course is mostly flat with a few inclines. A water and aid station will be located at the Chamber of Commerce, Bancorp South and at the finish line. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:The Pink Pumpkin Run is a festive event for the entire family! 7:00 - 8:45 am Race Day Registration, Civitan Park 8:45 am Survivor's Walk9:00 am Pink Pumpkin Run 5K and 10K 10:00 am 1 Mile Fun Run 10:30 am Awards Ceremony, Amphitheater WHY WE RUN:The proceeds from the Pink Pumpkin events will benefit the Mammography Assistance Program (MAP) and cancer services at Marshall Medical Centers. Through the funds provided from MAP, women who cannot afford a yearly mammogram are offered assistance. TEAM ENTRIES:Team up with your friends and coworkers to fight breast cancer! Awards are given to the teams that have the most participants, the team that raises the most money, and the team with the best name. A minimum of 10 members is required to form a team. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for a team packet.AWARDS: Awards will be given in the 5K and 10K for the top three finishers in each age group. Awards will be given in the 1 Mile Fun Run for the top three male and female finishers. Any awards not picked up on race day will be available for pick-up by calling 256.571.8026 for 2 weeks after the race.
