This isl be Greenville’s only twilight race. Held in honor of Emily Bright, who died of ovarian cancer in 2008 at the age of 32, this race will start and finish at Moe’s Southwest Grill located at 610 Red Banks Road in Greenville.
Last year a field of over 450 runners and walkers registered for Greenville’s first twilight race. Will Bass (16:02) and Kay Evans (20:27) were the overall winners. Bass’s effort was a new men’s course record. Esther Fisher set the women’s course mark of 19:02 in 2011.
The entry fee is $25 until May 3. After May 3, the fee is $30. T-shirts are guaranteed to all those registered by May 3rd. After that date, it is “as available.”
Race packets can be picked up and late entrants can register at Overton’s on Friday, May 17, from 4-8 pm and also at Moe’s beginning at 5 pm on race day.
Awards will be given to the first three males overall, to the first three females overall and to the first three finishers (both sexes) in each of the following age divisions: 12-under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-over.
Following the race there will be a post-race party at Moe’s.
The race is held in honor of Emily Bright, who died of ovarian cancer in 2008 at the age of 32, Proceeds from the race will be distributed through A Bright Light Fund, a charitable fund managed through the Greater Greenville Community Foundation. Funds will be used for Ovarian Cancer Research & Awareness
