Directions to the Half-Marathon Start
Plan at least one hour to travel from Grand Marais, MN to Gunflint Pines where the half-marathon begins. Travel approximately 46 miles to County Road 20 & turn right. Travel one mile on gravel to Gunflint Pines and follow parking attendants.Participants will enjoy the friendly and fun atmosphere of the Ham Run Half Marathon. The volunteers are exceptionally nice and the post race event is a blast. Enjoy the scenic wilderness of the Gunflint Trail and don't be surprised to see wildlife such as moose, fox or even a wolf. The Ham Run Half Marathon will be fun for everyone. Racers and friends are welcome to attend the Spaghetti Dinner. Racers will find more detailed information about spectator spots, parking and post race festivities on the Ham Run website. Racers must be checked in at the race start at Gunflint Pines Resort and Campground by 9:30am on race day. Everyone is welcome to spend the weekend on the Gunflint Trail. The following USATF race rules will be adopted for the Ham Run; no strollers, pets or inline skates will be allowed on the race course and only registered runners will be allowed on the course. Transportation of sweat bags will be provided; please bring your own bag and be sure it is properly labeled. Post-Race Festivities for the Ham Run Half Marathon will take place at the end of the Gunflint Trail at Trail's End Campground. There will be a ham dinner following the race free of charge for race participants and for a nominal fee for non-participants.
