About This Activity

Students will learn the basic positions, movements and steps of Highland Dance to bagpipe music. All dancers will be taught the Highland Fling. Once the Highland Fling is mastered students will learn the Sword Dance, Sean Truibhas and more. Students who successfully complete the beginning class and upon recommendation of the instructor can enroll in the advance class. Advance students will be taught National dances, the Sailor's Hornpipe and the Irish Jig (Scottish version). Students are encouraged to wear soft flexible ballet style shoes or ghillies (socks may be used for beginner class).
