Brief Description

Families and individuals from the Washington D.C. metro area are invited to join local students for this 4th annual A Walk For Water to raise funds to help Amman Imman drill permanent water sources in the Azawak of West Africa.

A Marathon Walk in 110+ degree heat

During nine months of the year, in stifling 110+ degree temperatures, the children of the Azawak make a marathon hike for water, inspired not by an athletic goal, but by a desperate need. They travel up to 30 miles in a day, in an oppressive heat, with little to eat, They know that if they don't return soon with water, one of their family members might die.

Walk to Change Lives

To bring an awareness to the challenges these children face, and to raise money to bring them water, area schools, students, their friends and families are invited to participate in a special event: "A Walk For Water", a collaborative fundraising project supporting the mission of Amman Imman.

Bringing Water to Kijigari Village this Spring!

Students and their families enjoy a fun walk together while changing and improving lives in the Azawak region. Our goal this spring is to raise $50,000 to complete the borehole in the Azawak village of Kijigari.

The Path at Lake Frank

The path is beautiful, providing a wonderful natural adventure for the entire family while walking for a good cause!

Except for the walk from the parking lot to the rally field, the trail is unpaved and wooded with some rocky sections. It is not appropriate for strollers. Children who are below 8 years old should be sturdy hikers used to 3 mile hikes. Slow walkers may need two hours or more to hike. The trail will be well marked and easy to follow.
