What's Included

Join Mr. Toad on his musical mad adventures-it’s a smashing hit in more ways than one! This is a delightful, upbeat version of Kenneth Grahame’s ever-popular Wind in the Willows. Our eccentric but likeable Toad of Toad Hall, given to ’crazes,’ has a problem: he is obsessed with motorcars and ends up crashing them everywhere he goes! Despite the sincere efforts of his dear friends Badger, Rat and Mole, Toad’s madness gets the best of him and he ends up in prison for his reckless driving after a hysterical episode with the judge. Toad’s enemies, the weasels, couldn’t be happier to have him behind bars as they plot to overtake Toad’s estate! You’ll be thoroughly entertained when the weasels sing their wickedly deviant song, ’The Good Life’ as they plan to take over Toad Hall. Meanwhile, the jailer’s daughter, Polly, helps Toad escape prison dressed as a washerwoman! Yet another madcap scene ensues when Toad finally meets up with his friends again, and they devise a clever scheme to recapture Toad Hall from the weasels. With an exciting and humorous musical score featuring songs such as ’A Danger to Society,’ ’Down with Toad,’ and ’A Quiet Drive in the Country,’ this enthralling musical adaptation has been written with an extremely flexible cast and many great roles. Let the music and magic of Mr. Toad take you on a wild ride. Auditions: 9/12 (4-6 pm) Workshop meetings: begin 9/13 (no class 11/29) 4-7 pm Dress/tech rehearsals: 12/1, 12/2 5-9 pm Performances: 12/5 10:00 am, 12/6 7:00 pm

About This Organizer

The Georgetown Palace Theatre Education Program is dedicated to training young artists and adults in theatre arts and to providing age appropriate performing opportunities.

Our MISSION is to foster a lifelong appreciation of live theatre by providing a safe and healthy environment for training and creative self-expression, while building self-confidence and collaboration and leadership skills through the performing arts.

During the academic year we offer after school and evening classes in acting, dance, and vocals. Our popular Production Workshops offer performance opportunities to those students who are ready to put their skills to work. Production Workshops rehearse weekends and culimate in public performaces on one of our Palace stages.

When school is out, our curtain goes up! We offer "school day out" and "break" camps, giving students an abreviated, yet rich emersion into theatre arts.

During the summer, we offer 2-4 week Theatre Camps where every young artist is cast in an amazing show! Performers are split into groups by age: ages 7-9, 10-12, and teenagers. All campers attend daily class in acting, vocals, dance, stagecraft, and monologues. Each camp culminates in a public performance for family and friends.
