What's Included

In this introductory theatre workshop, classic stories serve as the launching pad for our dramatic adventures. Students will learn basic acting skills while bringing to life classic and new stories. Developing skills in storytelling and character development, we will work on teamwork, active listening and refinement of motor skills. Age appropriate theater terminology and basic acting skills are addressed through theater games and acting exercises. Along the way, students experience technical theatre through the creation of props and costumes. Skills learned: story adaptation, playwriting, intermediate stage directions, blocking, character development, physicality, creating costumes and props, theatre terminology, and projection

About This Organizer

The Georgetown Palace Theatre Education Program is dedicated to training young artists and adults in theatre arts and to providing age appropriate performing opportunities.

Our mission is to foster a lifelong appreciation of live theatre by providing a safe and healthy environment for training and creative self-expression, while building self-confidence and collaboration and leadership skills through the performing arts.

During the academic year we offer after school and evening classes in acting, dance, and vocals. Our Education Productions offer performance opportunities to those students who are ready to put their skills to work. Productions rehearse weekends and culimate in public performaces on one of our Palace stages.

When school is out, our curtain goes up! We offer School Day Out Camps and a Spring Break Camps, giving students an abreviated, yet rich emersion into theatre arts.

During the summer, we offer multiple Theatre Camps where every young artist is cast in an amazing show! Performers are split into groups by age: ages 7-9, 10-12, and teenagers. All campers attend daily class in acting, vocals, dance, stagecraft, amung others. Each camp culminates in a public performance for family and friends.
