The Red Poppy Bike Ride, held in conjunction with the Georgetown Red Poppy Festival, benefits local charitable causes. Routes wind through scenic eastern Williamson County visiting the neighboring communities of Weir, Walburg, Theon, Schwertner, Bartlett, Granger and Jarrell. Rider safety is our number one priority. Guaranteed great rest stops and SAG support! Gorgeous scenery and friendly volunteers will make this a ride you don't want to miss!
T-shirts guaranteed to the first 700 pre-registered riders. Post ride activities include a free lunch for all participants. Plan to visit the Red Poppy Festival in downtown Georgetown after the Ride for food, crafts and entertainment. Ride proceeds benefit the SERTOMA Scholarship fund and the Williamson County Child Advocacy Center.
From I-35, take the Andice/Lake Georgetown (RM 2338 - Williams Dr.) exit #261A if coming from the south or #262 from the north. Go east on RM 2338; turn left at the light (McDonald s is on the right) onto Austin Ave. The Annex is about a mile north on the right side of the street, immediately past Georgetown HS.
RIDE STARTS AT 8:00 a.m. with no riders leaving after 9:00 a.m. Course closes at 4:00 p.m.
Approximately 14 (Family Circle),27, 40, 50, 63 and 100 miles with START & FINISH at the Georgetown High School Annex. All routes pedal through moderately flat terrain interspersed with rolling hills on the eastern side of Williamson County. Riders must obey all traffic laws. Helmets are required. Rest Stops will be available throughout the ride. SAG vehicles will be patrolling the routes to help with mechanical troubles and to pick up riders with any problems.
