Customer Reviews for the
Best garment ever!
I love the Patagonia Solimar Pant. They are super lightweight and comfortable and they can be rolled up to make a crop pant. I bought two pairs to wear for a hiking trip in Spain in September but found the pants fit so well and look so good, I have been wearing them all summer almost every day. They dry in no time. The fit is true to size. I wear them so often, I recently purchased a third pair too! For an all round excellent summer weight hiking pant, you cannot go wrong with the Patagonia Solimar!
So Close...
These are so close to be perfect hiking and travel pants. They get it right in so many ways, with just a few minor but irritating drawbacks. Pros: -These are extremely, extremely light. They weigh practically nothing and pack to barely bigger than a pair of underwear. At 6.3 oz, these are the lightest pants I've ever heard of and I'm surprised that Patagonia doesn't market them as ultralight gear. -They dry ridiculously fast. Wash them, wring them out, and they're practically dry already. - The fabric is soft and comfortable with a nice DWR finish that beads off water. -They seem well-made and I think they will be durable, but I've only had them a week so time will tell. Cons: -The pockets are useless. The two slit pockets are so vertical that anything you put in them you'd risk falling out. There's a hidden thigh pocket that is just barely large enough for a cell phone, which is nice, but a little velcro or a zipper would make me feel a lot more confident trusting my electronics to it. -The ultrathin fabric makes for some wicked VPL (visible panty line). If you have any lumps or cellulite it might show through the thin fabric. - The stretch in the fabric seems like it would be nice, but it also causes the pants to "grow" throughout the day so while they fit nicely after washing, they stretch out fairly quickly. Definitely require a belt. -The fit: Like most hiking pants, the waist to thigh width ratio is off for anyone with muscular thighs. I had to size up to a 10 to accommodate my athletic thighs, which means the waistband is very loose and gapes. Wish gear companies would figure out that serious hikers have serious thigh muscles... Overall: Great idea, great fabric, a few drawbacks in fit.
